After working in the travel, technology and biotech sectors, a deep desire to be of service led Tanja Reutimann '87 to pursue her master's degree in psychology with an emphasis in career counseling at Antioch University in Santa Barbara.

As a senior vocational rehabilitation counselor for the State of California, Tanja supports job seekers who have medical diagnoses that impact their ability to fulfill their vocational goals. “In 2011, instead of pursuing more advanced education, I embarked upon a fantabulous journey of learning a third language, Spanish. This has been deeply satisfying, and further enhances my passion for travel and photography,” said Tanja.

As a Santa Barbara County resident for more than 20 years, Tanja maintains philanthropic ties from Santa Barbara to Pasadena. “Last year, I identified that one of the ways I had been feeling the most joy was spending time at the magnificent Descanso Gardens and became a full-fledged volunteer. Through this commitment, I am learning about the gardens, museum and, as an Enchanted Railroad conductor, savor the delight of the train riders, along with my nephews.”

Tanja has been a loyal supporter of the Westridge Annual Fund because she values the relationships she developed as a student and the ones she cultivated as an alumna. “Westridge faculty and alumnae continue to inspire me with their accomplishments and commitment, which has propelled me to become a member of the Madeline Society.” By including Westridge in her will, Tanja hopes to encourage others to do the same.
