Marty Kaplan

Marty KaplanWhen it came time for my wife and me to sit down with our lawyer and draw up a living trust, I knew that Westridge would have to be part of it.

I began teaching Spanish at Westridge in fall 1983. From the moment I stepped onto campus, Westridge became part of my life and I became a part of Westridge's life. I worked and thrived in an environment where I was encouraged to be who I am and to bring my values to my work with students and colleagues. Twenty-six years later, I retired from Westridge where I experienced some of the best and most meaningful years of my life. Westridge has given as much to me as I have given to Westridge.

I firmly believe that teachers, as well as parents and alumnae, owe a debt to Westridge. That debt can be repaid by making sure that Westridge continues into the future by seeing to it that there is sufficient funding for prospective students in financial need, and financial support for everyone in the community to do their best work. When it comes time for Westridge to receive my bequest it will not be a cause for all fundraising to stop. The sum will be modest, but it will be one that will say thank you for allowing me the privilege of teaching amazing young women who have made, and will continue to make, a difference in the world.
